Faith Lutheran College, Redlands

Faith Lutheran College grew out of the desire for ministry and teaching to young people after a group from the parish got together in the early 1980s. Founders day is celebrated at the end of July each year to recognize the foresight and vision of those people. Faith currently has an enrolment of over 1100 students, catering for Prep Year to Year 12 on two-campuses, with the junior college established on Link Road, Victoria Point, and the middle & senior campus on Beveridge Road, Thornlands.

St. James Lutheran Community Kindergarten

The kindergarten and child care is situated next to St. James Church on Waterloo Street, Cleveland. The kindy was established in 1971, at the time of the building of the new church. The child care currently exists in the building that was the old church prior to 1971, with a number of important extensions. Management of the centre is through a team of parents and church members and staff, under the banner of QLECS.

Lutheran Church of Australia

The Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) has been in existence since 1968, after the union of the two former synods. However, the history of the Lutheran Church in Australia goes back to 1838 when German emigrants fleeing religious persecution in Prussia established the first Lutheran Churches in South Australia. The LCA is led by Bishop John Henderson, based in Adelaide. The recent convention of the church voted strongly to change the name of our leaders (including State or District leaders) from President to Bishop. Many local congregation members serve on either national or district (state) committees necessary to run the wider church. The LCA contains districts from all states and territories, plus New Zealand with the NT part of the South Australian district, the ACT part of the New South Wales district, and Tasmania part of the Victorian District.

Lutheran Laypeoples League (LLL)

The LLL is the financial arm of the church but is truly directed towards providing resources for mission and ministry. It is very generous in its support of new church initiatives across the length and breadth of Australia and New Zealand. it also provides interest-bearing bank accounts with zero fees.

Australia Lutheran World Service (ALWS)

The ALWS is the most efficient overseas aid agency in the country, in terms of money donated going to the needy areas. Their focus is currently Africa, where they are working hand in hand with better-known agencies to support, build and create new hope. Every year, ALWS conducts a Christmas appeal which raises substantial revenue to go to the needy areas of our world.

The Faith Celebration worshipping community at Thornlands raises funds for ALWS through its sale of coffee after worship every Sunday.

The Lutheran

The Lutheran the award-winning monthly magazine of the LCA. Most church members subscribe, as it is an indispensable tool for keeping in contact with events in our church, as well as a great aid to the development of faith. It has recently become available as an application for your i-pad.

Lutheran Youth of Queensland (LYQ)

LYQ runs a camping ministry which has changed the lives of many young people. Camps are run in all regions of Queensland, including the camp at Luther Heights at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast. Many children are subsidised to attend through the active fund-raising ministry of LYQ. Each year, it conducts a 'Splashdown' at the Wet'n'wild theme park on the Gold Coast. But more important than the fun and fellowship that occurs, Lutheran youth ministry challenges young people to be changed through submitting to the power of our Lord Jesus and following him through the maze of a confusing and complex world.

Easter Festival

Redlands Lutheran Church is committed to working closely with other churches in the Redlands for combined worship at Christmas, Pentecost and Palm Sunday, and for dealing with issues in the community which are too big for one church. All the churches support the Easter Festival which brings the work of Jesus into the lives of over 10000 people. The festival is run on the Monday after Easter and is organized by volunteers from all churches.

Funfest is a massive festival which takes place at the junior college, link road, Victoria Point, usually on the middle Saturday of May. Children, staff, and church members are involved in a great day of fellowship, challenge and information which is very well patronized by the Redlands community.

Cleveland Christian Bookshop

Redlands Lutheran Church strongly supports the Cleveland Christian Bookshop, which is situated only a block away from the Church.  The bookshop has a wide array of cards, gifts, books, bibles, DVDs and other supports to the Christian faith.  Lutheran members are active in serving as volunteers.
